One number, and the arithmetic behind it
Severity weights are fixed and published. Choose a contract type, tick the clauses it contains, and watch the score move.
How the score is calculated
The same three rules apply to every contract.
1. Each finding has a fixed weight
- Critical
- 4
- High
- 3
- Medium
- 2
- Low
- 1
2. The weights are summed against the worst case
The worst case for a set of findings is every one of them being critical, so the denominator is the number of findings times 4.
score = (sum of weights ÷ (findings × 4)) × 100
3. The score falls into a band
- High risk
- 75 to 100
- Elevated risk
- 55 to 74
- Moderate risk
- 35 to 54
- Low risk
- 0 to 34
